Mechanical parts are all rusted and unusable; setting seem to be in the junkyard where these parts of a machine are thrown away. Use of fading of color to signify passing of time and the old fading away

Can signify the merciless nature of abandonment and the effects of passing of time. These machines were once in operation and roaring away, and without usage and being abandoned, they turn into this rusted and detrimental state.
