Rendition of Solemnity

Charcoal and Acrylic on Paper

2025

With piano being my lifetime hobby, I wanted to make a series out of what kind of feelings piano give to me.

The primary element I wanted to include along with piano is water. I made the connection to piano because playing the piano relies on maintaining subtleness when one plays it, yet the sound that comes out of is clear, crisp, and polished. When thinking of these aspects, a correlation that came directly into my mind were waves of water.

In this piece, I reflected upon calmer and slower pieces I have played and illustrated more of the subtle elements of piano. With a channeled expression, a darker background, and waves with pronunciation of control and smoothness, the piece adds depth to the expression of solemnity that whoever observing this piece can experience.
